Meet the Team – Todd Halfpenny

How did you first come across Shirtforce?

I was asked to go to the Partner Forum in London some years back… I asked my boss if I could design a tee to wear, and he said yes. I came up with a funny take on the Forward Looking Statement for our company, and whilst wearing it several folk asked if they could buy one… and so Shirtforce was born.

What’s your favourite Shirtforce design?

There really are so many good ones, but I’d say my favourite is the JSON of the Argonauts design. It encapsulates the subtle and clever humour that really tickles me.

What would be your ideal conference swag?

You mean other than a Shirtforce t-shirt? I actually really like swag-socks… I can’t remember the last time I actually bought a pair of socks for myself.

What key part of Shirtforce excites or inspires you the most?

It’s the marrying of humour, fashion, and the end-goal of helping people kickstart their trailblazer journeys. I simply cannot over-emphasise how valuable the Salesforce community conferences are, and the fact that when people buy our t-shirts they’re directly helping folk attend them is an absolute blast.

Have you got a key memory from a Salesforce community event?

There really are so many memories… from my first ever conference talk at the inaugural London’s Calling in 2015, to leaving a post-conference bar at CzechDreamin  with Andre Van Kampen and Louise Lockie, and finding the rest of Prague had already slept, had breakfast, and were on their way to work. Though one that really stands out is a time at London’s Calling when one of our attendees ran over, gave me a hug, and told me that she had just been offered a job after many months of being out-of-work. It made an already amazing day even more special.

Outside of Shirtforce and the Salesforce community, what keeps you busy?

We have two kids and two sausage dogs at home… and they keep us fairly busy. Outside of that I enjoy skateboarding, playing drums, and baking bread. I also like a bath, with a beer or two.

What would you rather see in an org, Person Accounts or free-use of Multiselect Picklists?

Person Accounts… if there was some real consideration before flipping the switch.

Which community event would you most like to get to this year?

I’d love to get to one of the events in Africa. We were able to help 5 attendees travel across Africa to Accra to get to West Africa Dreamin in 2025, but sadly I couldn’t make it myself. They’re hosting it in Lagos this year, and to attend that would be absolutely amazing.

What one tip would you give your past self in the Salesforce ecosystem?

Say yes more, where you can. If someone asks if you fancy coming to an event, say yes. If someone asks if you want to present at an event about a topic you know about, say yes.

If you were a loaf of bread, what would you be?

As an amateur home-baker, I’d have to say Sourdough, as I can pretty much put anything I want in it. So I can be a bit nutty, but almost certainly cheesy.

Which member of the community do you think is most likely a superhero’s alter ego?

I’ve never seen Wonder Woman and Louise Lockie in the same room… just saying.
