Meet the Team – Chris Emmett

How did you first come across Shirtforce?

Oh gosh! It’s at the point where I can’t actually remember a time before Shirtforce. What I do remember is Todd came up with a great idea to sell fun t-shirts for charity and it instantly piqued my interest. I love playing around in Photoshop in my spare time and this seemed like a great excuse to get involved.

What’s your favourite Shirtforce design?

It’s called “The Year Of Missing All Y’all” and was the brainchild of Melissa Hill Dees during lockdown. She had the brilliant idea of having a tshirt that listed all of the cancelled events in 2020. It went through so many different design iterations, but after a lot of team work, we produced something special and looking back 5 years later, a little time capsule.

What would be your ideal conference swag?

As forward thinking as I (hope I) am, I’m a sucker for writing notes in a pad, so any chance I get to pick up a good notepad, I jump at it. Not everyone’s into that though, which is why it’s Shirtforce and not Scribbleforce.

What key part of Shirtforce excites or inspires you the most?

The basis of our mission is to bring new talent into the Salesforce community. Any community can only thrive if it grows and evolves with new ideas and new ways of thinking. We’re taking an active role in growing the community – What could possibly be more exciting than that?

Have you got a key memory from a Salesforce community event?

I have way too many memories, but they all start and end with the people. It really is about the friends we make along the way.

Outside of Shirtforce and the Salesforce community, what keeps you busy?

As I’ve hit my twilight years 40s, I’ve turned to looking after myself. So most mornings, you’ll find me getting out of bed at 6am and hitting the gym for 90 minutes. I never thought I’d find myself calling that a hobby, but I’m there 3 out of 4 mornings come rain or shine, so it’s a big part of my life. Almost as big as my unhealthy Lego obsession.

What would you rather see in an org, Person Accounts or free-use of Multiselect Picklists?

Person Accounts and it’s not even close. I could perform a 2 hour monologue on my thoughts around multi-select picklists. And I’d do it with interpretive dance!

Which community event would you most like to get to this year?

I’ve done a lot of local events, so I’d love to go to one on the other side of the world!

What one tip would you give your past self in the Salesforce ecosystem?

It’s OK to not know the answer. It’s OK to Google the answer. It’s OK to say you don’t know the answer but you’ll get back to the person asking the question.

If you were a loaf of bread, what would you be?

I’d be a plain white loaf. Because there’s nothing special, but by gosh if you need a sandwich, a slice toast or just something to dip in your soup, I’m right there.

Which member of the community do you think is most likely a superhero’s alter ego?

Will Turner. He’s the alter ego of Punman!
