How did you first come across Shirtforce?
I first came across Shirtforce in 2017, having bumped into Todd following a London community event where he was wearing the ‘Forward Looking statement’ t-shirt – which I found hilarious. He explained the inspiration for his tshirt design and he went on to talk about his idea & vision for Shirtforce. Immediately, I was an #InstantFan. Nothing has changed in the following 9 years…
What’s your favourite Shirtforce design?
I’m supposed to pick a favourite…?? Not fair. Who came up with this question, and more to the point, actually expects me to be able to answer it?
What would be your ideal conference swag?
Typically, anything Shirtforce-branded, so T-shirts, hoodies, shoes etc. Definitely comfortable shoes are a must though, as you’ll be on your feet for considerable periods of time. Other than that, a refillable water bottle and a battery pack
What key part of Shirtforce excites/inspires you the most?
Tough to keep this to simply one thing, so I’ll narrow it down as much as I can to just three items: Our mission and our team.
- The Shirtforce mission has always been to bring value to the Salesforce ecosystem, providing alternative swag that has been inspired and designed through the satirical eye of the community, and to pass on the profits to assist community causes.
- Our sponsorship program is simply an extension of this mission, facilitating a mutually beneficial way for the community to live the value of paying it forward (for the benefit of those new to the community), whilst getting a great product in return – I mean, what better way to show your support and appreciation for the Trailblazer Community?
- Having recently expanded our leadership team, I am so excited at the potential, the vision and the energy that we have, and I’m delighted to be involved in the next chapter and what’s coming in Shirtforce’s near future. Watch this space! (no, I’m not giving anything away just yet).
Have you got a key memory from a Salesforce community event?
Seeing so many community friends receiving recognition in the form of a golden hoodie from Salesforce is incredibly special, especially when I’ve been there in-person to witness it, as has happened a couple of times. No doubt though, seeing Keir Bowden receive his on the Dreamforce stage, after everything he has done for the Salesforce community was an extra special experience.
Outside of Shirtforce and the Salesforce community, what keeps you busy?
Is there anything outside of this space?
Just kidding.. I like to get involved in a number of activities, but mostly involved in supporting good causes both locally and overseas. My support for the people in Ukraine is fairly well-known and I love to travel there as much as I can (though it’s never enough) and get involved in supporting in whatever form that may be.
What would you rather see in an org, Person Accounts or free-use of Multiselect Picklists?
As a former community group leader in the data space, any mention of multi-select picklists instantly sends shivers down my spine. Can these not be disabled by default, like Person Accounts, please Salesforce?
Which community event would you most like to get to this year?
I’d really like to get to CzechDreamin, but that’ll only happen if my plans work out favourably for me when I travel to Ukraine in the summer. This is however dependent on circumstances that can often change quickly and at short notice, as the situation there isn’t the most stable. So, I’ll definitely be at London’s Calling this year and looking forward to meeting as many Shirtforce fans as possible.
What one-tip would you give to your past-self, when it comes to the Salesforce ecosystem?
Despite your company seeing you as the SME, be comfortable not knowing everything about the platform and products, and not having all the answers readily available
If you were a loaf of bread, what would you be?
Knowing my proficiency for producing excellent puns, I think I would be a Panettone (the King of Breads) simply because I always rise to the occasion.
Which member of the community do you think is most likely a superhero’s alter ego?
Alexandra Klein is definitely Supergirl’s alter ego… she’s a whirlwind of energy, passion & inspiration, constantly flying around the world, injecting serious levels of excitement into everyone she meets and is always there to help anyone at any time.
